Charity and Philanthropy
Association of Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia Disorders – http://www.amend.org.uk – is a charity very close to the hearts of the Director, Adrian and secretary, Stephanie, who both have MEN2A. It’s a genetically passed on condition, passed on from the former founder, Adrian’s’ father, Michael, to Adrian, his sister Gillian and brother Jason, the former director, who passed away suddenly due to the condition.
‘A registered UK charity since 2003, AMEND is a patient group run to benefit families affected by the multiple endocrine neoplasia disorders and their associated endocrine growths. In addition to providing social media, email and telephone support, AMEND provides free psychological counselling to patients and their families.
The charity runs a UK Research Registry, awards an annual Research Award and produces patient information for adults and children with the help of an expert medical advisory team. Our children’s cartoons on MEN were highly commended by the BMA in their 2015 Patient Information Awards.
Membership of AMEND is free and open to patients, families, friends and healthcare professionals. AMEND continually strives to look for ways of improving the care and management of MEN patients.
Details of our work and free membership registration can be found on AMENDs website’
